Chapter 4:   THE COUNCIL CONVENES

Section 3:   Agenda and Summary statement of matters of which the Council is seized

Sudanese agenda item reformulated to include South Sudan

On 11 November 2013, by a Note by the President (S/2013/657), the Security Council decided that “issues pertaining to the Sudan and South Sudan, including the African Union/United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID), the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and Council resolution 2046 (2012), will, as from 11 November 2013, be considered under the agenda item entitled ‘Reports of the Secretary-General on the Sudan and South Sudan’.”  This became the fifth agenda item formulated by the Security Council since it first took up issues related to the Sudan on 10 October 2003 under the agenda item, “Letter dated 2 October 2003 from the Permanent Representative of the Sudan to the United Nations addressed to the President of the Security Council (S/2003/934)”.  (This update supplements page 216 and endnote 95 of page 239 of the book.)
