Vetoes, insufficient votes and competing draft resolutions accentuate divisions within the Council

Since 2000, and especially since 2010, there has been a marked increase in divisive votes in the Security Council,
which reflects the fact that some Council members are now less willing to shield the Council's divisions from
public view. In part, this reflects the polarizing nature of some key items more recently before the Council . . .

"Superman – Deadly Legacy"
This the English version of a 1996 humanitarian comic book featuring Superman which, in cooperation with UNICEF, the Mine Action Centre (MAC) and US Government, DC Comics published to promote landmine awareness among children in conflict zones. It was distributed by NATO forces and MAC in Bosnia in local language editions.
While rescuing two Bosnian boys from some active mines, Superman instructs them about all the places where mines might be laid and teaches them to walk carefully backwards if they spot any.
